各位跑友：好久沒進來，由於工作有點繁忙，所以貼上英語版的第二屆馬六甲（台灣稱麻六甲）馬拉松的新聞報導。等湯尤杯羽賽結束後，小弟再翻譯此稿。先貼上英語版先。

Malacca, Sunday, 9th. May 2004
National runners K. Baskaran and S. Devamani took the second Malacca International Marathon by storm after they emerged as champions in the men’s and women’s International categories this morning.

Baskaran, a seasoned long-distance runner clocked 2 hours 39 minutes and 40 seconds to finish first in the 42 km run while Thailand’s Socchai Choosakul and Koday Sewmood came in second and third clocking 2:43.41s and 2:43.52s respectively.
The 32 year old Penangite said he was slower compared to his last marathon here. “I came to Malacca immediately after taking part in the Pendang run at Kedah on Saturday. It was tiring,” he said.
The men’s international champion attributed his victory to his experiences.

In the women’s category, Devamani was a clear winner, finishing close to 17 minutes ahead of the other participants. Devamani, the defending champion clocked 3 hours and 19 seconds while Thailand’s Naiyang Rakaphon came in second in 3:17.00s and Malaysia’s Susila Govindan from Port Dickson was third with a time 3:34.44s.

In the men’s senior half marathon, Malaysians Samuel John Moses, Ramesh Pachiappan and N.Arumugam occupied the first three spots covering 21.1km. Samuel was timed at 1:12.57s followed by Ramesh at 1:15.27s and Arumugam at 1:16.00s.

Thailand’s Nom Rakkhathan captured the women’s senior half marathon title in a time of 1:42.12s with Malaysians Tee Swee Teng and Nancy Lai in second and third spot with a time of 1:47.11s and 1:54.17s respectively.

K. Subramaniam, C.Gnansegaran and C.Krishnansamy were the first three winners in the men’s veteran category, while Tay Kee Choo, Mah Ah Moi and Sarene Seah emerged the first three winners in the women’s Veteran category, both events covering a distance of 10km.

About 1,800 competitors from Singapore, Thailand and Burma took part.
