But I came back again a year later when I begantraining hard for my first ultra.

But I'm sure you've noticed in the last 10 months we've only had one or twodates. I don't know how to say this B2B, but there's someone else. Her nameis Lucy and she's 10 months old. And when she smiles you can see her fourtiny teeth. I can give you Saturday mornings, bright and early, no matterthe weather, no matter the distance. But Sundays, well, it's just not goingto happen.

Sundays I get up early too, but just not for you. I'm getting up for the 18pounds of energy asleep in a room down the hall. We do all the things youwon't B2B: we share a bowl of oatmeal (she loves peaches n' cream), shakemaracas and practice our walking.

My first ultra is just more than a month away, B2B. I know you and I shouldbe spending more time together if I plan on making a decent time at therace. But those miles will be there always. Those Sunday mornings spenttickling Lucy are finite.

So, buck up, B2B. I'm sure in a decade or so she'll want nothing to do withher dad. At that time you and I can head out on the open road togetheragain.

But not this week. It's not you, B2B. It's me. So long for now...I've gotoatmeal to make and maracas to shake.

Joe

編輯者 ultrailrunner - 2010-10-05 at 4:08am
