真情告白: 一位過去在週末兩天拿來跑背對背訓練的超馬跑友,
Dear Back-2-Back,
We've had a rough history, you and I.
A little less than two years ago you
and I met and hit it off for a couple of weeks before you were just too much
and I had to back off. But I came back again a year later when I began
training hard for my first ultra.
But I'm sure you've noticed in the last 10 months we've only had one or two
dates. I don't know how to say this B2B, but there's someone else. Her name
is Lucy and she's 10 months old. And when she smiles you can see her four
tiny teeth. I can give you Saturday mornings, bright and early, no matter
the weather, no matter the distance. But Sundays, well, it's just not going
to happen.
Sundays I get up early too, but just not for you. I'm getting up for the 18
pounds of energy asleep in a room down the hall. We do all the things you
won't B2B: we share a bowl of oatmeal (she loves peaches n' cream), shake
maracas and practice our walking.
My first ultra is just more than a month away, B2B. I know you and I should
be spending more time together if I plan on making a decent time at the
race. But those miles will be there always. Those Sunday mornings spent
tickling Lucy are finite.
So, buck up, B2B. I'm sure in a decade or so she'll want nothing to do with
her dad. At that time you and I can head out on the open road together
again.
But not this week. It's not you, B2B. It's me. So long for now...I've got
oatmeal to make and maracas to shake.
Joe
